La Roque sur Cèze is a medieval village built high up on a rocky outcrop, offering the best view of the Sautadet Waterfalls. This magnificent panoramic view of the Sautadet Waterfalls adds undeniable charm to this historic and unspoilt site.

- The Sautadet Waterfalls
The Sautadet Waterfalls are located along the Cèze River, near the town of La Roque sur Cèze. This must-see attraction in the region draws many visitors during the summer. Admiring these waterfalls is a sight worth seeing. If you want to swim in the Cèze, there is a small beach open to all, just a few minutes’ walk away. The Sautadet Waterfalls are accessible via a nearby car park (€0.50/15 mins). - The Les Cascades campsite in the Gard has direct, private access and a beach for its holidaymakers.
- The Vis Waterfalls
The Vis Waterfalls are located on the border of the Hérault department, in the village of Saint Laurent Le Minier. This unspoilt natural site offers visitors a magnificent setting. The beautiful waterfalls flow into a clear, refreshing stream, popular with swimmers. Finally, the banks are accessible to all and offer a few shaded spots. - The Concluses de Lussan
The Concluses de Lussan are incredible gorges carved out by the Aiguillon river. A few kilometres north of Lussan, a most enjoyable 6km hike is recommended in dry weather and during the summer months. This hike offers a complete change of scenery thanks to its extraordinary views of the arches and high cliffs.
Nearby villages
Around La Roque-sur-Cèze, you will find charming little medieval villages. At the exit of the Ardèche Gorges, for example, discover Aiguèze and its stunning setting. Located at the foot of the cliffs, the village overlooks the Ardèche and offers exceptional views.
Ranked as one of the most beautiful villages in France, you will also be charmed by the vegetation and atmosphere of the village of Montclus.


Historical tours
- Caesar’s Camp – Laudun
A few kilometres from the town of Laudun lies one of the region’s most remarkable historical sites. Caesar’s Camp covers no less than 18 hectares of archaeological site. - Caesar’s Camp is open to the public and displays the Gallo-Roman remains discovered during excavations.
- Balouvière Aqueduct
The 76-metre-long Balouvière Aqueduct was built in 1870 in the village of Laudun. Made of brick and limestone, the architecture of the building is similar to that of the Pont du Gard. Don’t miss this monument if you are passing through the area. - La Chartreuse de la Valbonne
A former monastery, La Chartreuse de Valbonne has now been converted into a hotel and restaurant. From the outside, you can admire the immensity of the building, its bell towers and colourful roofs. You will have the opportunity to visit the old buildings, the beautiful chapel and the magnificent gardens. There are also many hiking trails starting from the Chartreuse de la Valbonne car park.
- The Salamander Cave
Discover the fascinating Salamander Cave, accessible to all from Méjannes le Clap. Whether you are an amateur or a connoisseur, one thing is certain: you will not remain indifferent to the Kingdom of the Crystal Giants. There are four possible visits: access to the viewpoint for people with reduced mobility, a guided tour of the cave, an abseiling course and, finally, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Salamander. - The Aven d’Orgnac
Straddling the departments of Ardèche and Gard, the Aven d’Orgnac cave is a remarkable historical site. Family-friendly and educational, a visit to the cave promises total wonder as you explore the different chambers. Given the temperature (12 degrees) and the 700 steps to descend, remember to dress appropriately.
The Aven d’Orgnac site also offers a virtual immersion and caving courses for the more athletic.
